More Blessed To Serve

Acts 20:35: I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

What is serving if not giving your service? If my definition is correct it is more blessed to serve than to be served. The above passage seems to agree with my definition. It says laboring ye ought to support the weak. Many do not have great financial wealth or possessions to give but they can still serve. They can give their service. We can all serve others. I hesitate to call blessedness cheap but it is not expensive.

As a rule, unbelievers have it backwards. They believe it is more blessed to be served than to serve. Unbelievers strive to have others serving them. They often succeed but it makes them less blessed.

1 Thessalonians 1:9: For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

As believers serve God, they also serve others. In organizations or families, it is often the believers who serve and the unbelievers who are served and yet it is the believers that are more blessed. The unwise and the unbelievers have what they want but they are less blessed. The wise and the believers have what they need and they are more blessed. If you observe the organizations and families you are part of you will find these things to be true.

If you are not happy and blessed try serving others. Not strong and healthy enough to serve others? You can still pray for them. There is often a shortage of individuals willing to serve you but there is never a shortage of individuals you can serve.

Colossians 4:12: Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
